You won’t find these stores in your local mall. If you want to walk down a street that isn’t filled with The Gap, Banana Republic, Abercrombie and Fitch, Macy’s and Nordstrom, head down to Main Street. My picks have the flavor of this town and offer hospitality as well as a sense of community.

Eat

Mmmmmm. Food. Steamboat has over 80 bars and restaurants, with the vast majority being originals to Steamboat.

Drink

When you live in the mountains where snow falls about six months of the year, a shot of whiskey or a beverage or two does more than warm the insides, it warms the soul.

Play

In a town known for its rugged mountains, champagne powder and golf courses, what else is there to do? Plenty. Here’s a few alternatives to get you out of town for a day and check out the wide open peaks that define Colorado.
